In the past different publishing houses in Flanders presented their series ofclassics of Flemish literature. These series were never completed mostly dueto financial (or editorial) problems. Today there exist new series of classical orwould-be classical works. In this article we discuss the quality of the currenteditions of Flemish literature presented in series in the twentieth century.Case-studies, based on comparative investigation of (non)authorised texts,will show how these series are constituted. At the same time this article containsa vademecum for new series based on scholarly examination of texts.
