Hoewel Nederland koploper is op het gebied van fietsgebruik, zijn reecties op de culturele status van dit vervoermiddel zeldzaam. Zoals ervaringen elders in de wereld én binnen Nederland laten zien is fietsen niet louter een rationele keuze, maar ingebed in een nationaal discours dat de normaliteit van de fiets benadrukt.Referenties
