A Drought-Planning Methodology for Ranchers in the Great Plains

Cody Knutson, Tonya Haigh

Abstract

Severe drought is one of the greatest threats to Great Plains ranchers.1,2 Many ranchers, however, often fail to respond effectively to drought conditions.3 To help address this problem, range experts recommend that ranchers develop a drought plan as a strategy for minimizing drought-related losses to  nancial and natural resources.
