UCLA radiocarbon dates I.
Abstract
The measurements reported in this paper have been made since the Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory at the Institute of Geophysics, University of California, Los Angeles, became operational in Aug. 1961. CO (sub 2) proportional counting was used for all measurements in a 7.5-L counter at 1 atm pressure. Dates have been calculated on the basis of the C (super 14) half life of 5568 + or - 30 yr, and 95% of NBS oxalic acid as modern standard. Samples have been carefully inspected, cleaned, picked free of rootlets, and pre-treated with HCl when necessary. The 21 samples described are from Oregon, California, Nevada, Egypt, Texas, Mexico, and Clipperton Island.
