Abstract
In this second lecture, Starling's extraordinary insight is once again vividly displayed. Despite numerous embellishments the basic principles of lymph production (see Lecture I, Lymphology 17:83-88, 1984) and tissue fluid absorption (see below) are as sound today as when first proposed almost 90 years ago.
