PENILE AND SCROTAL LYMPHEDEMA AS AN UNUSUAL PRESENTATION OF CROHN’S DISEASE: CASE REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

Abstract


Crohn’s disease is an inflammatoryintestinal disease that primarily causesabdominal pain and diarrhea. We report amale patient who presented with penile andscrotal lymphedema and inguinal fistulas asthe first manifestations of Crohn’s disease.Extraintestinal or metastatic Crohn’s diseaseinitially presenting as genital lymphedemawith fistula formation is rare. Skin lesions inextraintestinal Crohn’s disease typically shownon-caseating, sarcoidal granulomas withnumerous foreign body- and Langhans-typemultinucleated giant cells, which areseparated from intestinal involvement bynormal skin. Treatment options are limitedand include multi-immunosuppressantmedications.
